How to turn off safe mode?
To turn off Safe Mode on your Android phone or tablet, simply restart the device. Here’s how you do it:
- Press and hold the power button on your device until the power menu appears, which usually takes a few seconds.
- From the power menu, select the ‘Restart’ option. Your device will begin the process of shutting down and starting back up. Note that this could take a little longer than a normal startup, so give it time.
- Once your device has rebooted, it should be out of Safe Mode and return to its regular operating mode. You’ll know you’re out of Safe Mode when you can see all your regular apps and functions available again.
If you don’t see a ‘Restart’ option:
- Continue holding the power button down for about 30 seconds. In most cases, your device will power off completely.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the power button again to turn your device back on.
- As it restarts, your phone or tablet should exit Safe Mode and boot into its standard operating mode.
This direct restart method typically resolves any minor issues the device was experiencing and eliminates the need for Safe Mode. Should problems persist after this, further troubleshooting may be necessary — but starting with a restart is a quick and straightforward first step.
Use Notification Panel
If you own a Samsung device, or another Android model that supports this feature, disabling Safe Mode could be even simpler, using just the notification panel. This convenient method lets you bypass the typical physical button sequences, making it smoother and quicker.
To turn off Safe Mode using the notification panel, follow these steps:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull down the notification panel.
- Look for a notification that states “Safe mode is on” or something similar. This is usually persistent at the bottom or visible as a pop-up.
- Tap on this notification, and you should see an option that allows you to turn off Safe Mode. Select “Turn off” or “Disable.”
- Your device will likely restart automatically, but if it doesn’t, simply restart it manually by holding down the power button and choosing to restart from the power menu.
Exiting Safe Mode using the notification panel is particularly user-friendly and eliminates the need for remembering button combinations or holding down multiple buttons.[1]
After restarting, your Android should boot in normal mode with all your apps and services up and running as usual. If for some reason Safe Mode is still enabled or if your device continues to revert to Safe Mode without cause, this might signify a deeper issue that could require professional assessment.[2] In such cases, consulting with a technician or visiting your device’s support center may provide further guidance and solutions.
